As a mother of a young child, I often think about immortalizing one of his drawings in tattoo form, a sweet reminder of the little person he was. That’s why I was zero percent surprised to see Rihanna’s latest ink, a precious design created for her by her kids—just in time for Mother’s Day!
Rihanna, who has a plethora of tattoos, worked with longtime collaborator Keith McCurdy of Bang Bang Tattoo in New York City on the tattoo, which was inspired by a series of colorful scribbles done by either her oldest child, RZA, or younger son, Riot, or maybe a combination of the two artists working together! She brought in a piece of paper featuring the design, but kept the scribbles in black ink versus duplicating the colorful markers used by the young artists. (She also skipped including the Paw Patrol stickers that adorned the paper.) “Family tats,” McCurdy wrote on Instagram, noting that Rihanna’s new ink was “designed by her babies.” The scribble art was placed right in the bend of her knee, with some of the design just barely brushing her lower thigh.
How cute, right? And how much fun for RZA (almost 4) and Riot (2.5) to have their art featured on their mom’s body forever! The two have already attended red carpet premieres with their mom, posed in Savage x Fenty campaigns, and appeared on magazine covers, and their baby sister Rocki just had her first big magazine moment too, popping up with her mom on the cover of W. We’ve got a feeling this trio of cuties will make just as big an impact in the fashion and beauty worlds as their parents have.
