When you’ve got a beauty vision, you’ll do whatever it takes to bring that vision to life—even playing chemist! In Hailey Bieber and manicurist Zola Ganzorigt’s case, that meant mixing four different nail polish colors to create the perfect shade.
Bieber attended the 2026 Grammy Awards to support her husband Justin, who was nominated for several awards for his album Swag and performed at the show. She paired her simple, sheer black Alaïa gown with berry-tinted beauty details, starting with her lip color, a pretty plum-berry tint applied by her go-to makeup artist Mary Phillips. Bieber could have opted for her favorite sheer, glazed nails, but instead, she and Ganzorigt decided to match the lip color, and it took four OPI nail polishes to do so.

“Match your nails with your lip combo because details matter,” Ganzorigt wrote on Instagram, and no detail was left unexamined when it came to Bieber’s red carpet manicure! According to Ganzorigt, Bieber’s custom combination was a mix of OPI’s Barefoot In Barcelona, a pinky-nude shade; Cliffside Karaoke, a satiny brown; You Don’t Know Jacques!, an iconic taupe; and Big Apple Red, a classic cherry. The final result was a unique fusion of brown, plum, and mauve that felt fresh and unexpected against her sleek column gown, and you can really see how each color impacted the final result! Ganzorigt used the brand’s GelColor formula, but each shade is available in a regular nail polish too, so you can get creative with a similar concoction of your own.
When precisely blended together, the bespoke creation almost exactly matched Bieber’s lip color. Phillips hasn’t shared the products she used on the Rhode founder, but her m.ph Lip Ciggy lip tint in Love Bites is a similar sheer wash of berry with a brown undertone.
Manicurists often layer or mix colors to get their desired shade; in the fall, Tom Bachik crafted a “vampy” combo for Jennifer Lopez by layering a deep brown-red with a sheer black on top. When you have a very specific color in mind and can’t find it on the shelf, you gotta get creative!
